Scott is suddenly single and alone after his girlfriend dumps him during his marriage proposal and his roommate moves thousands of miles away. But when he invites super-nice strangers Ryan and Mary to share his apartment, they soon begin to intrude on every aspect of his life including his new relationship with the girl of his dreams. Is Scott just being paranoid or does this seemingly ‘perfect couple’ need a third wheel to keep them rolling? If you can get past the beginning corn, stereotypes and bad acting, one can watch a relatively low-key fluff piece about loneliness and desperation. The writing inadvertently hits a stride here and there, including such gems as “I am a monogamous slut” and very few others I have forgotten already.

Our main character played by Routh, shuns his solitude and desperate ways with women by inviting a psychotic perfect couple to sublet with him. One Tree Hill alum Sophia Bush plays one half of this power couple, and in the end was the only strong point of the film. The trailer gives away the rest of the film and “funny” moments, including the plethora of awkward situations and avoidance for any real character developments to be written. The contract premise that takes up the last act gets silly, and the loss of any real believability shatters the love interest.

The DVD documentary times in at 30 minutes, over half of which is clips from the movie. The other half has loads of talking heads from cast and crew about their characters and thoughts on production. The best tidbit was Routh stating he wants people to know he is “not just Superman” and “has talent”. Have to admit this film did not exactly prove that, but you might have to judge yourself.

This was a Starz production, so maybe this highlights a change from such fare as Space Chimps and Lower Learning. Would not give this a full recommendation as there are only a couple laughs but it is not exactly a bad film either.
