I’m not a big fan of action movie - but I will almost anything associated with Robert Redford, whose three days of the condor and all men of President ’s be among my favorites absolute, as is short river by him her first collaboration with Brad Pitt. So I figured, with these two in the roles I couldn le ‘t co-starring am really bad with spy game , and I certainly wasn ‘ t disappointed.

Said a 1991 perspective - two years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, when the CIA has changed a race by agency employees with experience in a field run by costumes - game Spy of flash back to the Cold War, when U.S. policy ‘to overrun were outmaneuver the Russian Communist-controlled, although Middle Eastern politics by subsequently added more complexity. (From before, but released after 11 September 2001, as director Scott elegant and the memorandum wick Marc Abraham and Douglas producers on the commentary tracks DVD ’s, the WTC attack had a certain effect on the process of editing). Story begins with CIA operative Tom Bishop (Pitt) ’s capture during unauthorized issuance attempt in Chinese prison, resulting in his former supervisor Nathan Muir) (from Redford ‘ s summation of his last days in office, a meeting of the agency du ’s best brass for an account of their operations between 1975 (their first meeting in Vietnam) and 1985 (their last operation in Beirut). However, already accused the Bishop to’ s capture by an old confidant to the United States Embassy in Hong Kong, as Muir introduced the report confirms that his early suspicion that its information won ‘t be used to save Bishop but to construe a reason to let the Chinese run. Thus it is left to Muir, several thousand miles away, to come to his former protégé in ’s aid, and thus violate all the rules of survival: Put away some money to withdraw money in a warm spot, never touch the money for anyone, not ever risk your life or career to a foreigner, and whether an agent will also booking (enters into a unauthorized), put the ‘t go after him trying to pull.

Naturally, most of this were made before and in the films mentioned above Redford, countless other celluloid tales of the past 50 years and the novels of authors who have developed entire careers on this kind of material, by John le Carré to Tom Clancy and Frederick Forsyth. But spy game was led by Scott elegant, which, like his brother Ridley, has already left its mark on the genre (see enemy of the state and crimson tide ) and, with its arts and advertising background, understands that action movies are about visuals as much as about the development of plot and character: the editing and camerawork low down in a narrative suspense action also ensure that the action low. And Scott ’s direction is spot-on in his choice of angles, movement and even color camera (each chapter providing an arrangement of single color), as well as his editing, so fast that there are several things you just take it in your second or third viewing. Even in scenes largely static in the conference room of CIA, with many small towers, the great dialogue and a cast of outstanding actors - including Stephen Dillane as Muir ‘intra-agency Harker and Larry Bryggman opposite of s as Deputy Director of CIA Folger - Scott never loses the viewer ’s interest

I have some issues with spy game - leave this coast, as in most spy flicks, there are few orders that I must suspend just a bit too much of my disbelief (like the orders of Berlin of the operation used to set up American mole Anne Cathcart [Charlotte Rampling] and parts of Muir de ‘rescue operation for the bishop s), I think it’sa shame that a team of director / producer has otherwise concentrated and on the authenticity didn ‘t realize how many people will remember Robert Redford ‘ s looks in films like the above, ie. the mid-70s, coinciding with the film ’s episode of the Vietnam and Berlin, for although Redford has definitely gained in the classroom and with his authority more and more important facial lines, that a bishop is responsible for Tom le ’s mentor, arguably there should have at least some obvious difference in age between Muir ‘ s eyes in 1975 and 1991. And just as an aside, a native Berliner: types, much as I applaud your choice to replace the streets of Budapest night to those of the cold-war Berlin, you shouldn ‘t have also filmed the scene from above roof there, because neither the city “the overall look of s nor its topography does not filter out to those who really experienced then Berlin. (Not to vopos “obvious Hungarian accents and a few other details that I won ‘t come in here.)

But overall this film is certainly a cut above the rest of his class, due to great directorial work as much as that of Redford, Pitt and Catherine McCormack as Elizabeth Hadley, the woman who finally has them in Beirut: Redford during that the main spy impenetrable and commander - whose past is, unlike in the original script, maintained properly ambiguous -, Pitt as the young gun, properly known as , boy scout which is not above the operating capital in a le ’s interest, but falls in love with the wrong woman at last, and McCormack as a tough, no-activist tendrils whose feelings for Bishop put finally in danger not only but also itself. - Last but not least, Harry Gregson-Williams ’s soundtrack deserves special mention: With an excellent blend of classic rock gives (Joe Walsh ‘ s rocky mountain way and major straits ” brothers in arms where are they on the soundtrack CD?) and points alternating between the melodies of the Middle East and Asia, a boy soprano (Bishop and Hadley ‘love theme from s) and splines techno, it is always in agreement with the action and provides a perfect frame for the film ’s trip from Langley to Vietnam, Berlin, Beirut and China. This may not be one of film history ’s absolute times larger - but it is a suspense story with well-crafted and certainly worth observing if you ‘ on to pursue a certain action.

Those who enjoy a good suspense story to spy should find it an obligation. The story isn ‘t new, but Robert Redford and Brad Pitt are a good team, and there are enough twists to keep your interest. From Redford mentors Pitt initially to the CIA, but on the other hand follows his career as qu’espion. When Pitt was caught in a trap, test Redford to help her escape. Good effects and production values are the value in at least one location, but the action and history can implore you to buy it. If you enjoy the hook of the Bourne trilogy (The Bourne Identity | Bourne Supremacy | The Bourne ultimatum) [Blue-ray].
