Kevin Costner’s lousy English accent is a small obstacle in this often exciting version of the Robin Hood fable. That aside, it’s refreshing to have a preface to the old story in which we meet the robber hero of Sherwood Forest as a soldier in King Richard’s Crusades, coming home to find his people under siege from the cruelties of the Sheriff of Nottingham (Alan Rickman). After Robin and his community of outcasts and fighters take to the trees, director Kevin Reynolds (Fandango, 187) is on more familiar narrative ground, and he goes for the gusto with lots of original action (Robin shoots two arrows simultaneously from his bow in two directions). Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, as Marion, makes a convincing damsel in distress, and Morgan Freeman brings dignity to his role as Robin’s Moor friend. Alan Rickman, however, gets the most attention for his scene-chewing role as the rotten sheriff, an almost campy performance that is highly entertaining but perhaps a little out of sorts with the rest of the film. –Tom Keogh

From The New Yorker
A dull, dutiful trek through the legend of the bandit of Sherwood Forest, who stole from the rich and gave to the poor. Watching this picture is about as much fun as paying taxes, and far less stirring emotionally. We never feel that anyone involved in making this multimillion-dollar, two-hour-and-twenty-one-minute spectacle had any real affection for the story. The screenplay, by Pen Densham and John Watson, is a mishmash of halfhearted dramatizations of episodes from the legend and equally halfhearted nods to contemporary attitudes. If the movie had an exuberant spirit-as the 1938 “Adventures of Robin Hood,” with Errol Flynn, had, in near-manic overabundance-we’d be more inclined to overlook the script’s incoherence. But there’s not much joy in evidence here. The direction, by Kevin Reynolds, is stolid and impersonal, and Kevin Costner seems miscast as Robin: he’s not a forceful enough actor for this role. The merry men are an unmemorable lot; even Little John (Nick Brimble) and Friar Tuck (Michael McShane) don’t make strong impressions, because they haven’t been given anything interesting to do. (In this version, Little John loses his famous battle with Robin in the stream.) The audience seems to perk up only when Alan Rickman, as the villainous Sheriff of Nottingham, is on the screen. He gives a florid, theatrical performance-there’s real glee in his malice. Also with Morgan Freeman, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Christian Slater, Michael Wincott, and Brian Blessed (who’s so vivid in his brief scenes as Robin’s father that we wish the movie were about him instead). -Terrence Rafferty

Historically inaccurate but still experience a vision of the fun. ,

Over the years, it appears that the saga of Robin Hood has been a favorite of the classes for reinventing film, handled, and show several times. No doubt due to global appeal and the premise of a hero taking from the rich, giving the poor, and fighting the good fight.

Of all the movies ever produced, it s from readily apparent that Robin Hood Prince of Thieves least confident in genuine historical accuracy and leans more toward Hollywood instinct still makes for an entertaining movie. The challenge ninguì n using English accent (which appears to grate some reviewers for some reason), Kevin Costner is good in the role of Robin Hood. With fine performances from Morgan Freeman, of Alan Rickman, of Christian Slater and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, (name just a few), the story moves at an exciting step and hits the mark as a support above the film of the adventure that doesn t disappoint.

As for the new launch of the 2 disc special edition of this film, he just got a whole lot better. Not having to flip the disc over to see the entire feature like in the first launch, you now have a new digital transfer banda sound and a return to both mix and DTS 5.1 are exceptional. On disc 2 you have great material to enhance the premium value and enjoyment even further. Included is a decent documentary on the making of Prince of Thieves , Bryan Adams performing in the music video (all I) I do it for you bios , an interactive gallery of medieval weapons, cast and equipment, production notes, interviews with the cast and equipment, and trailers and TV spots.

You get ‘t really have to be a fan of Robin Hood recalcitrant to enjoy this movie. The film has some flaws and stretches the historical aspect somewhat but it is done well with a lot Action, adventure, humor and fun. The launch of the special edition would be a nice addition to any DVD collection and recommend it to everyone.

This review is from: Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves (Special Extended Edition) by Two-Disc (DVD)

I was at [local store] one day and saw the Robin Hood for sale extended DVD. I decided to buy it. I thought that I liked all the fencing action, tales of fantasy. I have to say. It was a great buy! Was only [ $ $] for such a great movie.

extended Plot - our Robin Hood is a famous prison in Jerusalem. He escaped with a mooring, Azeem (Morgan Freeman) and his friend, Peter. The Peter doesn ‘t make it, but would like the robin that he promised to protect her sister, Marion. The robin and should find its way home with Azeem. discover the robin the’ s father died and his servant blinded. The sheriff’s robin killing of Nottingham (Alan Rickman, who is perfect in the role) of the ’s father is doing horrible deeds for poor people in the area. Robin and Azeem ends up in Sherwood Forest and find their tenants, including little John Scarlett. All the team up and decide to defend themselves against the sheriff. (94/100)

Acting - how many people hate Kevin Costner speaks in this film. I really didn ‘t notice a change in his voice at all. So didn ‘t really upset me! I thought that Kevin Hand as robin. Christian Slater and Alan Rickman were the two who stole the film. The Christian was great as the mystery and confusion Scarlett. Alan Rickman was hilarious and disgusting as the sheriff. Both were great and should have deserved great credit for their positions. There are also a short cameo by Sean Connery. (96/100)

Action and violence - there’s lots of action and violence in this film. could have been R. classified. There’s a lot of fencing, the arrows are lit faces in the grip of strife and blood. I think that any man of action I would like this movie. remarkable scenes of the action: the Celts Sobrante, fiery assault, cheating the hangman, storming the castle, and the final duel. To check out these scenes, have you bought the DVD and access to the selection of the scene. (95/100)

Sexual issues - there are some sexual themes in this story. There is a scene where Marion is about to be violated sheriff. well, nothing about the robin naked under a waterfall. So there is some sexual content. Let ‘t really think that was necessary, however. discs (from 89/100) < p> The two and the extended version - the extended version is very good. It explains much about the sheriff. There is also some action putting in some places. worth the money.

The extended version comes with two disks. Thankfully You didn ‘t have to turn on disk look integer movie. I was so happy that it could barely watch the entire film on one disc. The other discs are loaded with extras. There are commentaries, documentaries, making features, galleries, of trailers, and more. The extended version (98/100) on 94/100) Overall

two discs (this film is very good. It is very good and worth the money to buy. Don ‘t get the original disc. He isn ‘ t worth it! Just buy it. has tons of action, romance, some comedy, systems and beautiful scenery, and just all around great feeling to it. Total - Extended Version 94

The course is UNRATED.UNRATED for strong violence, action, sexual themes, and brief words harsh.

Let me straighten some things up.,

“Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves” is a tour of the rolicking adventure that will satisfy most people. If you can ‘t get beyond accents, after missing out on a good movie. < p> Let me clear some things up: “1 of

.; Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves” was in a tight production. There were three (count them, three), Robin Hood films were produced same time, which is coming out to finish first would be that which is released in theaters. A production gave up and left. That left two Robin Hood films - one with Kevin Costner, and Patrick Bergen. < p> 2. due to the tight schedule, Kevin Costner ’s accent was dropped for being “over” dubbed in post production. just didn ‘ t have the time to worry about if you wanted to get the accents finished film.

3. Filming completed, the dubbing was dropped due to lack of time and the film was finished. “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves” was launched theater-wide, while the version of Patrick Bergen slated for TV.

Now that I have the niggling little thing about accents straightened up, get past him and watch the movie for what it was intended: entertainment.

There is a lot of pure humor - numeritos of the struggle of the small river of John ’s of his wife ‘ s joke that, the sheriff of Nottingham of ’s frustrations jokes ( “Why a spoon, cousin, why not an ax” - “Because it ‘ s dull, you Twite, hurt more! “), the viewer is not disappointed. The entire cast was nice looking, and the dressing was superb. drunkard The green of the forest (the movie was filmed in the woods of Nottingham - which proved to be a problem - the airport is close) is captured beautifully in the film as well as “the forest; homes” Robin Hood and his men happily took refuge in.

something I enjoyed this movie because of Kevin Costner ’s Robin Hood was a Robin Hood for the 90 ‘S. He was intelligent, witty, and fun way to represent it to be. Continue: rent the movie and walk into a great adventure movie.
