Patricia Arquette stars as a tourist vacationing in the country of Burma. Why someone who had just lost her husband and son to murder vacation is beyond me. But let ’s not subtle about something that is minor compared to what Qwest is the most compelling and powerful for freedom. The more the
Qwest for freedom in the film is for Arquette, friends of Burma, and Burmese people. Arquette is unwittingly downloaded by Fate in harm ’s way, only to rediscover her own inner strength. The Burmese people have been living in harm the ’s way for years under brutal military regime. Takes all the inner strength that can bring together to make each day. And for those who are truly brave, there may be opportunities to escape into Thailand.
I won ‘t go into detail on the diagram. Is sufficient to say that the stories in the film moved me greatly. Check horrible life faced by the Burmese people after watching this movie. The I didn ‘t know. In the West we live in ignorance of such horrific human rights abuses. Burma the ’s struggle is not in the news every night. These people suffer largely in silence movie.
The attenuation probably quite a bit. Enscripts the Burmese army routinely brutalizes and child laborers to build roads (often for Western companies). The military routinely violates women in villages around the country. And the army has systematically murdered the men, particularly anyone probably even in opposition to the dictatorship. Burma is experiencing the depths of evil everyday.
We must be ourselves to watch such films. They remind us of what man is capable and we must overcome. Remind us of the power we have to overcome. And remind us to be grateful for the freedoms that we enjoy in the west.
A river of sorrow,

Patricia Arquette is excellent as a young woman numb with grief slowly coming to terms with being left behind after killing her husband and young son in their home during a robbery. When she travels to Burma on holiday with his sister, Andrew (Frances McDormand), she finds a country in so much pain as she is slowly and finds purpose as she desparately needs. According to real events, John Boorman skillfully woven into a loom large fine thread of goalkeeper Laura of ’s intimate history with a thicker yarn country’s struggle for democracy.
Laura (Arquette) and his brother, Andrew (Frances McDormand), are on vacation in Burma, two American tourists enjoying a boat ride down a beautifully scenic river in Burma. His sister Laura has brought hope here to help you move forward after she has lost everything she loved. Even though Laura appeared stoic, there is tremendous pain just below the surface, emotions so strong that she dares not feel the left. She has refused to confront her life as a doctor because she could not heal and aprons in a boat of pain.
Boorman shows us a visually beautiful, as Arquette, has deep emotions just below the surface. One night in his room Laura hears a demonstration in the streets and is drawn to it, witnessing first hand the call for freedom while a woman asks bold democracy in the middle of the soldiers sent to stop it. That woman is Aung Suu Kui (Adelle Lutz). The soldiers are in a larger sense, their children and siblings, and she walks gracefully down to them and their weapons.
When separated from her sister Laura to her form a friendship with a teacher and a larger group of young students who are looking for change. She learns from the strong government that has cost many their lives as soldiers have turned on the crowds of young students. Laura wonders why the world has not heard it but did not learn that no journalists are allowed to send words or pictures Photo abroad. Cutting your family, Laura must make your way along with others, to Thailand for safety. She risk her life more than once as they do their way through the jungle and down huge rivers beautiful Rangoon.
Laura has found a place for their grief to dwell as she had unknowingly been in a place where millions are afflicted. A transformation occurs within Laura as she begins to live again, and when it begins the healing process. Beyond Rangoon is a film about the struggle for political change and the struggle within ourselves to find redemption. Arquette gives a subtle performance as Laura, absolutely on the surface but full of anguish underneath.
Laura, who has begun to feel again, make a decision at the end of this film will alter the direction of his life forever. The trip down the Irrawaddy with beautiful water Arquette as she navigates her way through a river of sorrow, and discover the reason behind him leaving. It is a journey worth taking.

This film should be released on DVD! A wonderful story with a conclusion that raises. Why not honor the struggle for democracy in Myanmar to launch this movie on DVD? More people should be familiar with Aung San Suu Kyi the ’struggle s of the release. The account is moving extremely great. In addition, the beautiful landscape and culture of Myanmar will make you want to travel immediately to SE Asia.
