A fantastical tale about a man who makes up bedtime stories for his niece and nephew only to find that they magically come true the next day, Bedtime Stories is a funny and enjoyable film about finding happiness in unexpected places. Skeeter (Adam Sandler) grew up with his sister Wendy (Courteney Cox) in a small hotel run by his father Marty (Jonathan Pryce) which was eventually sold to Barry Nottingham (Richard Griffiths) with the caveat that Skeeter would someday assume a leadership role in the business. Expansion transformed the small hotel into the luxury Nottingham Hotel, but Skeeter is just a handyman with little hope of advancement. When his sister needs to leave the state for a job interview, Skeeter ends up sharing the responsibility of watching her two elementary-age children Bobbi (Laura Ann Kessling) and Patrick (Jonathan Morgan Heit), whom he hasn’t seen for years, with Wendy’s friend Jill (Keri Russell). Initially an awkward situation, Skeeter and the kids bond over bedtime stories which Skeeter and the children make up. When events in the story start coming true, Skeeter tries to spin the stories to benefit his life, but events take some unexpected turns thanks to the kids’ wild imaginations and some strange translations between fiction and reality. New relationships flourish and in the end, Skeeter, Wendy, Mr. Nottingham, Bobbi, Patrick, and Jill each find happiness in a most unexpected place and discover what’s really important in their own life. Also worth mentioning is the character Bugsy, a guinea pig with enormous eyes that’s sure to have every child begging for their own pet guinea pig. Rated PG for mild rude humor and mild language, but appropriate for most ages 6 and older. –Tami Horiuchi

I gave this movie 5 stars because it deserves it,how did disney do it make an adam sandler movie that is actually understandably funny for both kids and adults alike I am 17 and I saw it I do not usually see PG rated movies but I went with my family on the 26th.
I laughed through most all of it.
you probaly would not want to read the other reviews as they have minor spoilers. Unless you want it to br ruined for you.
Really not crude not bad language but still funny. Anyone taking thier children for a show should check this out.

Yes, parents, it is SAFE,

Yes, it is safe to take the kids to this one! The whole family enjoyed it. We had left the 14 year old at home, but will rent it as soon as it comes out so she can see it too. The message is positive, the innuendos few, and the theme is just plain fun. Even the “Paris” character keeps things mostly covered. Nice change for a 21st Century film.

The lead, though he starts out trying to manipulate life to go his materialistic ways, learns how to manipulate life to benefit all of those around him. He is just that kind of guy who never could have been the selfish fool. So, it really can be a great discussion starter for the family about morality, unselfishness, and proper behavior in community.

On top of all that deep stuff, it is just hilariously funny! There were even some applause at the end when we watched it in the theater. It has been a long time since I’ve been in a movie where the audience was moved to applause.

3 1/2 Stars,

I like Adam Sandler movies for the most part. I know they are dumb and appeal mostly to my baser qualities, but they are good stupid fun. When this movie came out I was happy I could finally watch a Sandler film with my 10 year old son. The movie is very kid friendly, but with enough Sandler shtick to keep adults entertained as well. The story has a down trodden hotel maintenance man(Sandler) who finds the bedtime stories he tells his niece and nephew seem to be coming true in real life. It is not the best kid movie I have ever seen, but it is cute and charming and works enough for me and certainly for my son.
