Editorial Review:
Description:
Shot in HD! Look, but don’t touch.
Yes, the warmth and beauty of a wood-burning fireplace is mesmerizing. But, all fires and fireplaces are not created equal which is evident from Ambient Fire: The Ultimate Video Fireplace DVD. Visually, the DVD leaves nothing to be desired. It looks spectacular.
There are a variety of different fireplaces on the DVD, obviously a desire to cater to everyone’s taste. There are “just logs”, a marble fireplace, a “modern” fireplace, “just flames”, a “cuddle-up-next-to-the-fire Holiday scene” which features lots of holiday decorations and a train going around a tree, and even a campfire scene. Features a total of 9 different scenes. Smartly, they’ve made the most “desirable” scenes 35 minutes long and scenes like the campfire only 10 minutes. Of course, you can loop any of the scenes for endless playback.
Includes 5.1 fire sound effects and a variety of music choices including classical, guitar, and holiday. You can even choose to have the sound of fire mixed in with the music - a nice touch. This DVD, like its aquarium counterpart, Ambient Water, includes built-in playlists as well as the ability to create custom playlists.

We enjoyed this so much we got one for each of our kids, and they love it! Great product.

- Very Pleased!
I am very pleased with this DVD. I like the variety of fireplaces to choose from and how they will loop endlessly. I use this DVD to unwind before bed time, or whenever I would like to relax. It is great to have on while reading a book or on a cold winter’s night. The sounds are very nice as well. I usually select just the fire sounds, but the classical is nice as well. I was surprisingly pleased with the picture quality. The picture is very clear and realistic. I am very pleased!

- Did not work for me
I had difficulty getting this DVD to work for me. After selecting video scene and audio it would cycle back to the beginning menu almost all the time. It did work about 5% of the time. My DVD player is less than 3 years old so I don’t think that was the problem. I ordered a new fireplace video from a different maker and it works flawlessly. I played around with this flawed DVD for about two hours until I realized it was not going to work for me. I was frustrated and disappointed with this purchase.

- Tops of flames cut off
I have no idea why the tops of the flames are cut off… if not the flames, what are people who buy this product interested in? To make matters worse, it didn’t fill up my widescreen television vertically - the result is black bars across the top and bottom, with the viewer thinking, “those flames stop, but there’s still room on the tv???”
another nitpick - what does “shot in HD” mean for a standard definition DVD? maybe i’m ill informed about the benefits of “shooting in HD,” but as far … Read More

- Realistic Video
Bought this for the bedroom and a 40″ LCD HDTV, lots of choices of fires and sounds plus music. Looks like a real fire, crackles and all. Would have gotten 5 stars but the fire actually burns down realistically but I would prefer it looped and always stayed roaring, I almost feel like I need to add a log towards the end…LOL. If you love the look and sound of a fireplace but can’t have a real one this DVD will trick you into believing you have one.
